How the calculation works
return = stake + stake × fractional odds × (1 − deduction ÷ 100)A worked example
A £10 winning single at 5/1 would return £60 before adjustments. A confirmed 20p deduction removes 20% of the £50 winnings, or £10. The adjusted return is £50, comprising the £10 stake and £40 profit.
Deduct from winnings, not from the whole return
Applying 20% to £60 would remove £12 and return only £48. That would also deduct from the original cash stake. This calculator keeps the stake outside the winnings deduction.
Find the rate before calculating
Use the deduction confirmed for your particular settlement. The withdrawn selection, timing of the bet and reformed market can affect which conditions apply. A starting price, concession or multiple withdrawal needs its own rule check. The tool accepts 0–90p as a defined input range; it does not tell you that a given rate applies to your race.
Rounding
The model retains exact fractional arithmetic until the adjusted winnings are rounded to the nearest penny, with half pennies rounded up. It then adds the original stake. A different operator rounding policy can produce a small discrepancy.
